We will continue to keep you informed of opportunities for fellow patriots to contribute to our efforts. This week’s list describes five areas where we need help to accomplish our goals. Many thanks to those of you who have stepped forward thus far to volunteer!

1. Poll Watch on Election Day

HELP!! You want to participate, but you are not sure what you can do. Even if you are working, take off on Election Day. This is the most important election of our lifetime, and there are many jobs that need to be done November 6th. Don’t come to the end of the day and say, “I wish I had….” Plan now to help where help is needed.

Poll watching is one the most important safeguards of our election process! If you are not serving in another capacity on Election Day, please consider being a poll watcher.  There will be a minimum of 300 polling places on Election Day, and poll watchers are still needed in approximately 75 locations. Please consider volunteering for this important duty.

2. 40 Days of Prayer

San Antonio Tea Party supporters are joining other national groups who are participating in 40 Days of Prayer which began September 28th and ends on November 6th, 2012. America is in a tremendous crisis and headed in the wrong direction. At 8:30 PM on each of the 40 days, please join with all like-minded patriots to pause, reflect, and devote at least one minute of prayer for our country. We appreciate your participation in helping us retake our country, our state, and our community.

3. Distribution Center

SATP is in need of one person in each of the four quadrants of Bexar County who has a small amount of space in their garage and would be willing to act as a distribution point for SATP merchandise (particularly yard signs) requested by our supporters. If you would be willing to help out in this area, please email Sharon@sanantonioteaparty.us with your email and phone number and she’ll provide more details.

4. Citizen Lobbyists

SATP is renewing its effort to organize a group of Citizen Lobbyists who are interested in monitoring the members and activities of the Texas State Legislature . This group will be extremely active throughout the upcoming 5-month session (or longer if the session is extended). They will keep their eyes on the bills authored by members of the Legislature and follow the status of these bills throughout the legislative process. They will also keep SATP apprised when members of the legislature need to be contacted and/or lobbied, when “we the people” need to testify on a bill in a committee hearing, and when the bills will come to the floor for a vote.

We’re looking for a volunteer to chair this important committee and all others who are willing to get involved as members. If this is of interest to you, please email Sharon at Sharon@sanantonioteaparty.us and provide your contact information and best time to reach you.

5. Affordable Health Care Act Presentation

SATP has six physicians who have put together a 20-25 minute presentation on the Affordable Health Care Act and how it will affect you, your family, and your wallet. The presentation will be followed by a Question & Answer period. We will make this presentation available to community groups such as chambers of commerce, church and service organizations, HOAs, etc. If you know of a group that would benefit from such a presentation, please contact Jeanne Melendez at jmelendez@att.net and provide the point ofcontact, description of the group, number of attendees and preferred and alternate dates desired. Jeanne will contact the group point of contact to arrange the presentation.
