As we move into the last quarter of the year, significant holidays are fast approaching. Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, and Christmas hold both sacred and secular meaning to many among us, but something all these days have in common is their association with gratitude and good will.
We in the United States of America have much for which to be grateful. We are blessed in countless ways. One of those blessings is the safety and security we have as a result of the brave men and women who serve the country as part of the military. But their gift of securing our freedoms often comes with a heavy price: many have died and many more have been wounded in action.
The SATP Executive Council voted unanimously to sponsor a holiday gift opportunity to say thank you to these wounded warriors. We have selected the Military Warriors Support Foundation, headquartered here in San Antonio, as the beneficiary.
The Military Warriors Support Foundation’s mission is to support our nation’s heroes by offering programs that facilitate a successful transition back to civilian life. Their four specific programs for these warriors include Homes4WoundedHeroes (a housing donation program), Skills4 Life (a life-skills program), Education4Heroes (an educational assistance program), and CEOs4Heroes (an employment assistance program). The Foundation’s office is located at 2511 N. Loop 1604, Suite 201, in San Antonio. For more information, you may call them at (210) 615-8973, email them at Support4WW@MilitaryWarriors.org, or visit their website.
“The mission of the SATP is, in part, to educate and advocate for the maintenance of a strong national defense,” says John Bell, Vice President of the Executive Committee and member of the Board of Directors. “As such, we need to support those who have directly contributed to that end, often at great personal cost to their own lives. This is a great time of year to reflect on and recognize those patriots in a tangible way, and we can’t think of a better way to show our gratitude than collecting some cash that shows we mean what we say.”
To do that, SATP will be collecting cash gifts for Military Warriors Support Foundation from now through our December General Meeting on December 4, 2011. Contributions, which are tax deductible, should be made out directly to “Military Warriors Support Foundation” (NOT to the SATP). You may contribute in advance or bring your gift with you to the December meeting for collection and delivery to the Foundation.
Thank you in advance for your generosity to this fine organization that looks after the brave men and women who have sacrificed greatly to secure our freedoms!
