What is Nullification?

Nullification is,
according to Wikipedia , “a legal theory that a U.S. state has the right to nullify, or invalidate, any federal law which that state has deemed unconstitutional. The theory is based on a view that the sovereign States formed the Union, and as creators of the compact hold final authority regarding the limits of the power of the central government. Under this, the compact theory, the States and not the Federal Bench are the ultimate interpreters of the extent of the federal government’s power.”No one loves the union more than Tea Party patriots, but the US Constitution places limits on what it can do in regard to the states. When the federal government encroaches upon the rights of states, it’s the duty of every patriot to say “ENOUGH!” A growing network of organizations are taking on this issue. Open letter to Texas Senators….
Senator Hutchison,
I continue to be shocked and appalled by Congress shirking its duties to cut the budget so that it doesn’t sink the US economy through unbridled spending supported only by a printing press. Do you not see that this is serious? Our debt is growing so large that we won’t be able to pay even the interest, nor we be able to refinance it.
Imagine my bitter disappointment and anger when a source no less than liberal USA Today reveals that $5 billion in earmarks remain in the Continuing Resolution for funding the government. In addition it reports that NO short term CR has been without earmarks, this in spite of all the public hoopla (read “lies”) that Republicans have published agreeing to eliminate all earmarks.
As I look at history, NO CONGRESS for the last 100 years has ever significantly cut spending. This is because Congress and its members are inherently corrupt, selling their votes for re-election donations. This is sad and embarrassing, particularly for you Senator, because you were part of a Republican majority that was as blatantly profligate as any Democratic Congress.
Enough is enough. You MUST argue, fight Republican leadership, filibuster …anything it takes to balance the budget now. Do NOT allow the debt ceiling to be raised until the budget is balanced. At least have the guts of freshmen Marco Rubio or Rand Paul to INSIST that significant cuts be made. And NO, proposing a Balanced Budget Amendment is not enough, because it will never be passed in time to prevent economic ruin.
Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) has submitted legislation, in the form of an amendment to a “small business jobs bill,” to remove existing earmark projects. Please support that as a start. Then roll up your sleeves and represent Texans the way they want to be represented…balance the budget!
Respectfully,
Donald Baillio
